The Island

The island spans 156 acres of unspoiled natural forest and sits at the junction of Auke Bay, Smuggler’s Cove and Fritz’ Cove. Privately owned throughout its history, Spuhn Island has never been previously developed. Its forest yields way to pleasant beaches that meet the crystal clear southeastern Alaskan sea in numerous cozy coves and inlets, while views in every direction offer breathtaking panoramas of the Fairweather mountain range and Stephens Passage. An interior trail suitable for foot travel and all-terrain vehicles winds its way among the natural splendor from one end of the island to another.

It’s no mistake that Spuhn Island is located on the way from Juneau to some of the best fishing and whale watching grounds in southeast Alaska.
